A guide written by someone who clearly needs one.
I'm Adam. I write Self Hurt Guide from somewhere between "figuring it out" and "actively making it worse."
This blog is a running log of the things I keep relearning — about work, life, design, the internet, and the strange corners of my own thinking. It's part essay, part field notes, part public apology. Most of it is advice I should've taken. Some of it is advice I should've ignored. I usually can't tell which is which until about a year later.
I started writing here because I couldn't find the kind of honest, slightly unhinged, mostly-earnest writing I actually wanted to read. So I decided to just make it myself, lower the standards, and publish anyway.
I post roughly when I have something to say and enough coffee to say it. No schedule, no algorithm, no particular through-line. If you want to follow along, the RSS feed is the calmest way. Everything else is optional.
Thanks for reading. Stick around, or don't.
